Master of Education (M.Ed.) Program and Teacher Licensure

This is a professional program for individuals holding either education or non-education baccalaureate degrees or for individuals holding master's degrees who are seeking initial teaching licensure. The MEd program at the Mansfield campus is designed for individuals who wish to obtain their initial teaching license in early childhood (pre-K to grade 3) or middle childhood (grades 4-9).
The program consists of a coherent pattern of courses, seminars, field experiences, an internship (student teaching), and a master's capstone project focused upon critical problems in education. The program is a five quarter professional sequence during the regular academic year (autumn-spring) for full-time students who seek teaching licensure. Most courses are scheduled Monday through Friday from 8:00 am to 4:00 pm, while some are offered late afternoon. Additional required courses maybe offered during summer quarter.
In addition to the graduate courses in the professional sequence, students may be required to take additional content courses if they were not a part the their undergraduate program. This determination will be made by the education program counselor upon evaluation of transcripts.
