| The faculty and staff in the Integrated Teaching and Learning Program, College of Education at The Ohio State University's Mansfield Regional Campus, are dedicated to infusing technology into the teaching and learning in our program. The OSU Mansfield campus has effectively connected the undergraduate education technology courses and M.Ed. required courses with the International Society for Technology in Education (ISTE) standards. Because of the strong commitment to the integrated approach to teaching at OSU Mansfield, any technology component must connect to the methods blocks. Methods blocks run in two consecutive quarters to include a methods course from social studies, math, language arts, and science. Within each content area, there are expectations for lesson development and integration within those lessons. |
| The Integrated Teaching and Learning program at OSU Mansfield created a template out of the ISTE profiles and each of our students download this template, the profile in table form, onto a zip disk or CD [Click here to dowload Acrobat Reader]. The students write a short narrative addressing how they hit each of the competencies and include with this narrative a hyperlink to electronic evidence of their work. This evidence could be in a variety of forms. As an example, if a student wanted to demonstrate that she wrote and taught a lesson using HyperStudio, she might use two forms of evidence. First, she might hyperlink the lesson portion to her actual text document write-up of the lesson. Second, she might hyperlink her teaching evidence to an example of a student's presentation which she downloaded onto her zip disk. | ![]() |
| In doing this, the student has demonstrated her capabilities to write and teach a technologically enhanced lesson, and demonstrated her ability to use technology as a form of self-evaluation. She is documenting her technology use and at a future time, could reflect on that use and revise and recreate. |
